Ballyscullion Park is a private historic house and estate situated in the heart of Loughinsholin in quiet, unspoilt countryside, surrounded by ancient woodland and breath-taking views over Lough Beg.

The original house on the site was built for the eccentric Earl Bishop of Derry in the 1790s, and the present house was built in 1840. During WWII Ballyscullion was a base for the US Airforce, and the 82nd Airborne Division was based here to train for the Normandy Landings. The woodlands and ruins were used as a Game of Thrones location and now play host to Bronagh from Bakehouse’s Foraging experiences.

Ballyscullion Park has been the home of the Mulholland family for many years. Richard Mulholland, his wife Rosalind and their family, currently reside in the house, which is available for group tours and visits. Richard and Rosalind work with clients to put together bespoke packages for private tours and events, according to individual requirements. Food is freshly prepared in-house, using the best local ingredients and produce from their garden. Their son George is the resident chef.

Richard (a professional tour guide) gives a fascinating talk about the history of Ballyscullion Park and the Mulholland family, with their long-standing involvement in the linen industry. Richard is descended from Jane Austen’s brother Edward Knight, and Rosalind’s family has connections with Charlotte Bronte.

We love to welcome specialist tour operators groups to our home and grounds. We can assure you that you and your guests will receive a very warm welcome.
